Every time I get a high end laptop the games are slower than on my old desktop. This is very confusing for me, I feel I am wasting money.

I have a high end laptop and I get the same thing, an example is the other day I bought a game from steam, and it just lagged to hell!

I noticed laptop heats up at least 30 minutes after the start which makes me think that could be an overheating problem or it could be something else? Please give me some advice or suggestions do not know much about computers.

laptop graphics will never be as fast as desktops for the most part due to power & heat limitations. Steam especially has huge problems with laptops (no support for intel graphics) If you have a nvidia optimus card that switches to the gpu under high load it has just as bad of problems
